It is our pleasure to announce we have successfully been awarded funding from Illegal Money Lending Team England, to deliver our new project Magic Money Tree.

With Christmas fast approaching, it is more important than ever to raise awareness of the dangers of turning to loan sharks for financial aid.

Magic Money Tree is designed to educate young people, families, and the community of St.Helens. The project will bring together several local schools, venues and artists to make four magic money trees.

Using Digital Art and Graphic Design, the young people will create loan shark awareness banknotes which will be displayed on the magic money tree. The notes will also contain information about how to reach out for help if you, or someone you know, is involved with a loan shark.

The project will conclude with an unveiling of the magic money trees at St. Helens Library, in the World of Glass! This event will be a chance to celebrate the young people’s hard work and recognise the awareness they have brought to this important issue.

Once the project has finished, the magic money trees will remain in the schools to continue to raise awareness about loan sharks in and around the community!

You can keep up to date with this exciting new project by following our blog and social media.

If you, or someone you know, is involved with a loan shark the Stop Loan Sharks Team has a 24-hour helpline, contact 0300 555 2222.
