Celebrating 50 Years of Halton Through the Eyes of Local Students

This year marks 50 years since Runcorn, Widnes, and surrounding villages came together to form the Borough of Halton in 1974. To celebrate this exciting milestone, we’ve teamed up with Farnworth and St. Edward’s Primary Schools on a creative project that shines a spotlight on what makes Halton truly special.

We kicked things off by discussing some of Halton’s popular landmarks with the students and introducing them to Procreate, a fun and easy-to-use digital art app. With iPads in hand and Procreate at their fingertips, the students got busy creating digital artwork that reflected their favourite things about Halton. Take a look at some of the amazing digital masterpieces created by the students below:

Once the artworks were complete, we combined them into a collaborative art piece (see below), showcasing the talent and enthusiasm of these young artists.Β

We’re thrilled to announce that these masterpieces are now on display at Halton Lea and Widnes Libraries. After the exhibition, the art will be gifted to the schools as a lasting reminder of the students’ incredible contributions.

So, what are you waiting for? Head to the libraries, check out the vibrant artwork and share your own favourite things about Halton using the hashtag #HaltonHighlights. Let’s keep celebrating the places, people, and moments that make Halton shine!
