Illegal Money Lending is a difficult topic to teach young people yet, it is of paramount importance that young people understand the implications of borrowing money from the wrong individuals. The Illegal Money Lending Team have worked with Digital Arts Box for several years and have always been impressed with the team’s knowledge, innovation, and varied delivery styles. Digital Arts Box always meet the needs of the audience and teach the topic in a serious but fun and memorable way using creativity and technology.
Digital Arts Box and Mako Create have successfully run short breaks activities for disabled and SEND children in Halton for many years. Their innovative digital clubs have been attractive to a wide range of young people as they are varied and engaging. Multiple parents have commented how they’ve not only been allowed to enjoy a break but have witnessed their children gaining social skills and making friends. However, they haven’t stopped there; these sessions have inspired some to build on their initial learning, developing skills valuable for future employment. Digital Arts Box have also enabled some young people to come back and help on the short break sessions allowing them to give back to their community.
I have witnessed how no challenge is too large for Digital Arts Box. When they were tasked with implementing a session for young adults with SEND, they never let any barrier stop them. This is because they always endeavour to have the young person at the heart of all their projects. The Creative Hangout session has gone from strength to strength, helping to organically develop crucial friendship groups.
I have had the pleasure of working with Digital Arts Box CIC for over a decade, funding multiple creative projects that have provided incredible opportunities for young people in Halton. Through their engaging and high-quality programs in animation, video game design, and digital art, they have consistently delivered impactful experiences that inspire creativity and develop new skills.
One standout initiative was the Coding Clubs in Runcorn and Widnes, which ran for two years and were incredibly well-received—not only by the young people attending but also by parents and the wider community. These sessions increased footfall in our libraries, reinforcing them as valuable community hubs. Digital Arts Box has also been instrumental in delivering HAF-funded activities during Easter, Summer, and Christmas, ensuring hundreds of young people have access to enriching digital activities and meals. Their Creative Hangout sessions, social, digital art sessions designed for young people with SEND, have had a profoundly positive and lasting effect on those who attend.
Their reliability, creativity, and the fantastic standard of facilitation they provide set them apart. Their thorough evaluation methods ensure each project is backed by extensive feedback, visual content, and clear outcomes. It’s always a pleasure to support their work, knowing the lasting impact it has on young people in our community.
