The Impact of Our Work – In Their Words
As a not-for-profit Community Interest Company (CIC), we are dedicated to making a positive social impact through creative digital arts projects. We work with a wide range of organisations, from local authorities to social housing trusts and funding bodies, to deliver inspiring workshops and community initiatives.
On this page, you’ll find feedback from our funders and partners, sharing their experiences of working with us and the impact our projects have had on the communities they support.
Into Film has partnered with Digital Arts Box for more than nine years, spanning a diverse range of projects, including delivering in-depth professional development for schools in their area, and numerous standalone projects on an ad hoc basis. They have delivered over 3,000 instances of training in educational settings across the Northwest for Into Film in that period, and the feedback has always been excellent. Evaluation they carry out as part of the projects often cite how inspired teachers feel to embed the film literacy and filmmaking activities they have learnt into their teaching practice. They have delivered across a broad array of topics, adding their own expertise into the mix, and we have always had complete faith in having them represent us.
I have had the pleasure of working with Digital Arts Box CIC for over a decade, funding multiple creative projects that have provided incredible opportunities for young people in Halton. Through their engaging and high-quality programs in animation, video game design, and digital art, they have consistently delivered impactful experiences that inspire creativity and develop new skills.
One standout initiative was the Coding Clubs in Runcorn and Widnes, which ran for two years and were incredibly well-received—not only by the young people attending but also by parents and the wider community. These sessions increased footfall in our libraries, reinforcing them as valuable community hubs. Digital Arts Box has also been instrumental in delivering HAF-funded activities during Easter, Summer, and Christmas, ensuring hundreds of young people have access to enriching digital activities and meals. Their Creative Hangout sessions, social, digital art sessions designed for young people with SEND, have had a profoundly positive and lasting effect on those who attend.
Their reliability, creativity, and the fantastic standard of facilitation they provide set them apart. Their thorough evaluation methods ensure each project is backed by extensive feedback, visual content, and clear outcomes. It’s always a pleasure to support their work, knowing the lasting impact it has on young people in our community.
Digital Arts Box and Mako Create have successfully run short breaks activities for disabled and SEND children in Halton for many years. Their innovative digital clubs have been attractive to a wide range of young people as they are varied and engaging. Multiple parents have commented how they’ve not only been allowed to enjoy a break but have witnessed their children gaining social skills and making friends. However, they haven’t stopped there; these sessions have inspired some to build on their initial learning, developing skills valuable for future employment. Digital Arts Box have also enabled some young people to come back and help on the short break sessions allowing them to give back to their community.
I have witnessed how no challenge is too large for Digital Arts Box. When they were tasked with implementing a session for young adults with SEND, they never let any barrier stop them. This is because they always endeavour to have the young person at the heart of all their projects. The Creative Hangout session has gone from strength to strength, helping to organically develop crucial friendship groups.
As a school committed to fostering creativity and inclusivity, we are incredibly proud of the success of the Creative Hangout digital media activity club for our SEN students. This club has become a vital space where students of all abilities can explore their passions, develop new skills, and express themselves through various forms of digital media.
Having collaborated with Mako Create / Digital Arts for over 10 years, we’ve worked tirelessly to encourage students to participate in activities beyond school hours — something that can often be a significant challenge for many of our students. Issues like meeting new people and accessing and adapting to unfamiliar environments can be daunting. By hosting sessions within our school, we’ve helped ease some of that anxiety, allowing students to pursue their interests, develop new skills, and form meaningful relationships with both their peers and the warm, approachable staff. This foundation has also given them the confidence to take part in Mako Create / Digital Arts sessions at other locations — an incredible achievement for them!
The Creative Hangout club provides a supportive and adaptive environment, ensuring that every student feels included and empowered. Through engaging activities like video production, photography, and digital content creation, students not only learn technical skills but also enhance their communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities. The staff’s dedication to tailoring the program to meet diverse needs has been key to the club’s success.
We have witnessed remarkable growth in our students’ confidence and enthusiasm. Being part of a team where their ideas and contributions are valued has fostered a strong sense of belonging and self-worth. The excitement they bring to their projects often carries over into their academic and social development, enriching their overall school experience.
The Creative Hangout club is more than just a bespoke media activity group — it’s a space where creativity flourishes, friendships are built, and every student is encouraged to reach their potential. We wholeheartedly support and celebrate this initiative and its positive impact on our SEN community.
