Nourishing Creativity: Distributing 600 Meals Through the Holiday Activities and Food Programme in 2024
Last year, during Easter, summer, and Christmas, we had the privilege of supporting young people in Halton, St Helens, and Knowsley through the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme, a government initiative designed to provide free holiday activities and meals to children and young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals.
In partnership with our sister company, Mako Create, we distributed over 600 meals to young people within the community.
Why This Matters:
The school holidays can be a particularly challenging time for families, especially those with children who rely on benefits-related free school meals. The HAF Programme aims to alleviate some of these pressures by offering not just meals, but a range of enriching activities. For us, it was an opportunity to provide young people with valuable learning experiences and help them grow both creatively and socially.
Our workshops were designed to be both fun and educational, sparking creativity and encouraging personal development. From video game design to digital art and animation, young people had the chance to explore new skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
None of this would have been possible without the generous funding from Halton Borough Council, St Helens Council, Knowsley Council and the UK Government.
