Project Aims:
-
To provide accessible and engaging animation workshops for young people aged 10–16.
-
To introduce young people to different animation and creative techniques.
-
To work with young people to create an animation celebrating the rich history of the River Weaver.
The Solution:
We delivered a 5-week programme of practical animation workshops, introducing young people to a range of creative techniques including voiceovers, paper animation and collage.
Using materials and resources from the Cheshire Archives, we explored the history of the River Weaver and used archive content as inspiration for the animation.
The young people worked together throughout the project, creating different elements that were brought together to form one final animation celebrating the history and heritage of the River Weaver.
The Outcome:
The project resulted in a collaborative heritage animation, bringing together the creative work produced by our Creative & Digital Skills Tutor, Mariam, featuring work by the young people alongside material from the Cheshire Archives.
The finished animation was premiered at a celebration event hosted by Cheshire Archives on the Daniel Adamson, where the young people attended with their families and had the chance to see their work brought together and shared with others.
The finished animation is now a lasting legacy of the project, celebrating the history of the River Weaver and the creative work of the young people involved, while providing a resource that can be enjoyed and used for years to come.
