Project Aims:

  • To provide accessible and engaging filmmaking and digital arts workshops for young people.

  • To develop practical skills across different areas of filmmaking, including scripting, filming, acting, directing and editing.

  • To create opportunities for young people to meet others, collaborate and build friendships.

The Solution:

We delivered a programme of practical, hands-on filmmaking workshops at Winsford Library, exploring a different creative activity each month.

Across the six sessions, young people tried LEGO animation, trailer making, digital animation, short film making, special effects and green screen. This gave everyone the chance to explore different parts of the filmmaking process and find the areas they enjoyed most.

The sessions were designed to be accessible, flexible and fun, with activities adapted to suit different ages, abilities and levels of experience. Our tutors supported participants throughout each session, while giving them the freedom to develop their own ideas and take creative control of their projects.

The Outcome:

The programme was extremely popular, with all sessions selling out and 100% positive feedback from parents and carers.

Over the six sessions, we saw young people become more confident in trying new things, sharing their ideas and working with others. Some participants who had initially preferred to stay behind the camera went on to write, direct and act in their own films, which was a great example of how their confidence developed throughout the programme.

The regular sessions also gave young people the chance to make new friends and build a real sense of community. We finished the programme with an awards ceremony, giving everyone the opportunity to celebrate what they had created and recognise their achievements.

The response to the club has been really positive, with participants and families asking for more filmmaking sessions and longer projects in the future.
